Welcome to the Primary English Community! You are part of a community of teachers, school board members and teacher educators who are involved in introducing a new language, English, to the primary school. This is a demanding undertaking. But it can be fun and motivating.
What's it all about?
The Primary English Community is an information platform that supports teachers and schools in this effort. It’s a project funded by the Department of Education of the Canton of Zurich and managed by the School of Education (PHZH). The main purpose of Primary English Community is a one-stop shop providing information and advice and to help spread good practice.
What can you find?
The Primary English Community is a KNOWLEDGE POOL divided into 10 domains. Here you can get answers to frequently asked questions, to find methodological support and to download or review samples of materials. Look at the navigation bar on the left-hand side of the screen to see the 10 domains.
What has changed?
In the first two years, the Primary English Community also worked as an EXCHANGE COMMUNITY. There was a mini-lecture given by a teacher trainer and a discussion forum in which participants in training courses engaged.
Since 1st January 2007, this part has been closed. There are now more specific offers, especially the Consultancy/ Fachberatung service of the Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich and Bildungsplanung Zentralschweiz, as well as Questions & Answers sections for particular courses such as Explorers. | ||||||||||||
